Loading/Discharging Supervision & Port Captain Services
Proper supervision during loading and discharging operations is essential to protect the cargo, the vessel, and all parties involved. Incorrect cargo handling can lead to cargo damage, hold contamination, structural stress, or environmental incidents — all of which result in costly claims and delays. Motto Marine provides experienced supervisors who monitor every stage of the operation to ensure it is carried out safely and in accordance with the agreed procedures.

What We Monitor

Our supervisors are present throughout the entire loading or discharging operation. We verify that the cargo handling plan is followed correctly, monitor loading rates and sequences to prevent structural overloading, check for cargo damage during handling, and ensure proper stowage and securing. During discharge, we monitor for cargo shortages, contamination, and damage.
We also verify tally figures, monitor weather conditions that could affect operations, and ensure that all port and vessel safety regulations are observed. For bulk cargoes, we coordinate with draft surveyors to verify quantities at each stage.

Industries We Serve

Our loading and discharging supervision services cover a wide range of cargo types, including dry bulk (grain, coal, ore, cement), project cargo, steel products, timber, and containerized goods. We adapt our supervision protocols to match the specific requirements of each cargo type and the standards expected by insurers and receivers.
