Barge Gauging Services
Barge gauging is the process of accurately measuring the quantity of liquid cargo onboard a barge before and after transfer operations. Given the significant volumes and values involved in liquid cargo transportation, precise measurement is essential to avoid disputes and financial losses. Motto Marine provides independent barge gauging services using calibrated equipment and proven methodologies.

Our Gauging Process

Our surveyors carry out ullage or sounding measurements on all cargo tanks, applying corrections for temperature, density, trim, and list. We use calibrated UTI (Ullage Temperature Interface) equipment and verify our readings against the barge's certified calibration tables. All measurements are conducted in accordance with international standards and industry best practices.

We calculate the gross and net volumes, apply API/ASTM correction factors, and produce comprehensive gauging reports showing the exact quantity of cargo transferred. Our reports include all raw measurements, correction factors applied, and the final calculated figures.

Types of Liquid Cargo

We gauge barges carrying petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, lubricating oils), chemicals, vegetable oils, molasses, and other liquid bulk commodities. Our surveyors are trained to handle hazardous and non-hazardous cargoes with equal precision and safety awareness.
